A pleasant surprise! This wine certainly reflects both its origins and its vintage, which is already a good start... Most enjoyable with food, this wine should be consumed in the very near future. Even from magnum, this wine is already several years past its peak, which is one of the reasons why I never purchased 2003 vintage wines. They simply don't have the balance to age gracefully over time. There is still plenty to like here with generous concentration of very ripe fruit, great spicy intensity and excellent CdP typicity.

Unexpressive nose; cherry and raisen; muscular; lots of tannins with little dots on the glass, but rather tight and moderately sweet and not well integrated; too young.

On the brilliant side of brilliant vs. hot and pruney. Agree with David F and Josh Raynolds in most respects -- tons of sedimnent, gobs of pure fruit that overwhelm the tannin, with plenty of structure, balance, and class. Unmistakable CdP. Becoming fabulous on day 2, day 1 being a single good but edgy glass.

N. Rosenthal Wine Merchant Old World Trade Tasting (Elysian Hotel - Chicago, IL): Not as funky as other wines tasted. Menthol, anise, more purple fruit and leather. Some nice age on the nose.
