  Jura tasting (Mark's). Big, round and nutty with some smoke. All signs pointed to chardonnay, but it's a blend with savignin.

  Rather pale neon green color. Surprisingly subdued nose with aromas of tropical yellow fruit, oxidative nuttiness, some buttery oak and a hint of wooly lanolin notes. Quite full-bodied, broad and creamy on the palate with quite fruit-forward and characterful palate of sweet tropical fruits, even some banana, a little spicy oak, a hint of delicate florals and a touch of something funky and earthy. The finish is medium in length with flavors of tropical fruit richness, savory wood spice, some cream and hints of chalky minerality, that turns towards bitterness as the rich fruit characters recede.
  
  This is nice and characterful white, no doubt about that; it's not easy and predictable, yet it isn't a super-challenging wine either. Somehow the wine feels like a bit oxidative Burgundy Chardonnay with something funky to it - definitely not a traditionalist Jura white. Enjoyable, and also a white wine of some distinction, but still not the most memorable Jura white.
