Community Tasting Notes (9) Avg Score: 92.2 points

  • Purchased upon release and cellared under pristine conditions, this bottle was brought to a restaurant, where it was uncorked and serially tasted over 2-3 hours. Deep ruby/red in color and opening after the first hour of aeration, it unfurls a bouquet of Bing cherries, dark plums, orange zest, Asian spices, cocoa and savory herbs. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic and without alcoholic heat, it delivers flavors in line with the aromas and has good mid-palate density. At this stage, the oak and tannins have nicely integrated, resulting in a supple, lengthy finish. This is fleshing out beautifully and will last longer than previously projected. Drink now-2035.

  • High volume, effusive nose; whole cluster character here, even juniper, camphor; loads of soil, mineral and spice notes. Needs time to tame the beast and gain complexity. 93+

  • 93(+). This was quite exuberant from the get-go with dark cherry, intense floral tones in the form of lilac on this particular bottle! Classic briar scents come through with the dark fruit and introduces plush, rounded and generous dark and red fruits in the mouth. Quite full-bodied for Beaumonts but we're talking 2005, here. A great comparison to the '11 Dujac Beaumonts, of course; different animals. This '05 should hold on for decades!

  • Given an hour of air. Medium ruby. Resiny oak on the nose that ameliorated over an hour or so. Medium weight. Combination of green and mixed red and black fruit with a light soil base. Not fully mature, and the question as always is how well the wood will be integrated. It hasn't gotten there yet.

  • The first backyard barbecue with friends for over a year. Yea for vaccine! And, as to the wine - wow. Well-cellared and handled with care prior to pouring. Spicy, earthy nose, vivid red cherry, Asian spice, and some earthy, loamy depth that was intriguing and all-around wonderful. Good depth, perfect acidity and grippy fine tannins on a long finish. I wish I had this in my cellar!! It will hold on for years.
