  • Mittleres rubinrot mit ordentlichem Wasserrand; etherische Laub-, Holz- und Erdnoten, Trockenobst, Terpen und Veilchen; am Gaumen mittlerer Körper, gute Säure, feine, weit abgeschmolzene Tannine, langer komplexer Abgang.

  • 2/6, no formal note. Fragrant, red fruited, liquorice notes, elegant with vibrant acidity and fine tannins. Decent length. Drinking well.

  • I adore potatoes. My love for them is kooky to the extent that I don't see any purpose in using the word "crack" other than here. I don't eat them that often because it's easy to get bored of something you have readily available everyday (just ask the Irish), but when I do, they have to be perfect. You give me a cold, raw potato, it's a slap of disrespect and incivility right across my mouth. But when they're made in the Draganić household, lawd Jeezus have mercy. They roast in the juices of the lamb/pig for 6 hours to get synchronously crispy and juicy and can be paired with anything in this world, but that potato is so fucking tasty, that we never really care what we pop open. Fortunately, this time, we plucked this Brunello right off its peak.

Pale brick in the glass. Clear edges and basically no sediment. Decanted for an hour and poured back into the bottle. The nose is full-on tertiary with not a single hint of fresh fruit - tobacco, dried figs, a splash of sweet mocha oak, ground spice and a touch of moist cabin wood. This is how a fully developed wine smells like. Medium-bodied, slowly wilting away. What I like about this wine is that it hasn't given up on its consumers entirely. There's life in it that will last for the next 2-3 years. There is still a crisp acidity that is superbly countered by these chewy, ripe, almost candied tannins. The alcohol is hardly noticeable, but is big - 14%. It does lack length though, so you have to continuously keep topping up before the enjoyment of the first glass totally flees into nothingness. Nevertheless, a fine, traditional style of Brunello that was saved just in time for a grandiose feast.
