Tough and unyielding, I really want to like M-S wines more, since the estate and wine club were so much fun, but I've been regularly disappointed. This was overly acidic, a characteristic of many their wines, leathery, wild blackberry, gritty and earthy, but with just enough of an exotic nose and palate to generate some interest.

Not as compelling as I remember it at the winery at purchase 12 months ago. Some blackberry and bramble, a little spiciness but not a lot. The structure is still there, but it's not a spectacular wine.

Nice nose- not Aussie fruit bomb, more terroir-driven. Some blackberry under the tannins, lots of leather to finish. New wine in a new leather wine skin. The syrah is just starting to open now (after about an hour). The syrah is coming into its own. Open nose, cherries & blueberries, vanilla, and an earthy touch of mackeral (it works). ... Mackeral? Tiny fishy smell in the background- rich, not foul. like adding anchovy paste for richness, not flavor.

Decanted for 1 hour. Very mellow tanins, solid red fruits (berry and medium sweet cherry and currant).
