Honeyed nose, tropical fruit, stone fruit, very ripe/ dried. Powerful, dense, great purity. Dried apricots on the palate, smooth, a hint of spice. Not overly sweet, but also not very fresh. Elegant and not at all heavy, gliding gently across the palate, but I would love to have a bit more acidity. Really long. Great future nevertheless. 90-92+
Stunning nose, sweet and powerful, with layers of ripe stone fruits, pear, honey and mango. The luxuriousness and density of flavour continues through the palate, balanced by the perfect acidity. The texture is lush and the fruit pure and concentrated; this is very hard to put this down.
Light yellow, slightly golden towards the rim. On the nose dried apricots, honey, some exotic fruit notes as well, but really rich, ripe and sweet. Sweet and round on the palate, good balance with medium acidity, could be slightly fresher, but the purity and subtlety of fruit is impressive, very precise and gentle, long. Just lacking a bit of depth and freshness in my view. Very young.
JJ Prum - 2011 Range Tasted (Sydney, Australia): A floral nose with grapefruit, apricot, lemon and smoke, it was much more open than the Graacher Himmelreich Auslese at this point. The palate truly shines with astonishingly pure fruit and an extraordinary frame of acidity. Textured and deliciously long, this really soared in the glass and I imagine it will be an even more stunning wine given time. I found it hard to split this and the Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel, but it is exceptional in any context.
