  • Allow me to apologize in advance for the lack of descriptive wine talk. I bought this wine several years ago and until tonight I had not tried guardian merlot. The wine has been perfectly store at 57 degrees since purchase. I immediately had a small amount of wine right after opening. I was amazed. The wine was a bit on the fruity side, however the finish led me desiring more. I drove down to my buddies house so he could have a taste. He was amazed as well. I have 11 more bottles and I will sneak the remaining bottles into a blind taste test every chance I get. Maybe the wine was enhanced by a number of factors, but I have not tasted a wine this good under $60 in a long time. Best thing is that I think I paid $32 or less.

    Cheers!!!

  • - Violet color and aromas of violet, blackberry and oak and has flavours of blackberry and oak - A crowd pleaser. I was a little worried about the high alchohol and a few user comments about the heat of this wine but it didn't offend. Definitely a big wine with new world characteristics. But overall enjoyable and very good QPR.

  • Opened these bottles for 1-2 hours before serving but did not decant. Served with jambalaya - the fruit forward aspects of the wine (black cherry and berries, with hint of must/spice) and relatively mild tannins nicely complemented the spiciness of the dish. Dark in the glass; some sediment; mid length finish. This wine might become more balanced with another year or so, but it is drinking well now. These were our last two bottles; while we were happy to share them with friends, I wish we had more.

(Guardian Cellars Confidential Source Merlot Columbia Valley) An aromatic wine with stewed raspberries and cherries, light herbal tones, and peat. The palate has a thick feel and packs a wallop with bold fruit flavors, and firm, grainy tannins. Shows a bit more alcohol than the label might suggest. 100% Merlot. Ciel du Cheval, Conner Lee, and Stillwater Creek vineyards. Aged in French oak (60% new). 14.4% alcohol. 200 cases produced.
