Big and concentrated - with most of the power present in the front palate. Quite oaky, but also focused and mineral. Slightly bitter finish and the back palate tails off more than the front sand overall concentration would suggest - I wonder if the wine may be on the cusp of decline, but this is very classy, complex and drinking well.
This is very, very good. Very classy. If you told me this was a top 1er cru Burgundy, I would probably believe you. It needs 20 minutes of air and better with a slightly elevated temperature. At 15C it's wonderful. Good oak, yet not in the least bit overpowering, quite complex with plush fruit, floral and oak notes and a little bit of earthiness. Long finish with a nice dollop of fennel and herbs. Great acidity. This is fantastic value in a Burgundy context. A great alternative to my other NZ Chardonnay favourite, Kumeu River. And this can probably keep a good 8+ years too.
