Well, a 13 years old entry level Spätburgunder that’s been forgotten in the cellar. Is it alive? Well, yes acctually. It is drinking quite alright. Sure, the fruit is a bit thin but it has developed some complexity to compensate, with mushrooms and sous bois. Also still has some of that nailpolish VA and spice that it had already in its youth. Medium lenght.
Interesting to drink this, holding up surprisingly well.

Popped and poured. Berry fruit aroma. Rich sour cherry flavor dominates with leafy tobacco flavors cutting through. Pure sour cherry finish. Delicious, firm acids offset by sweet fruit, some complexity, excellent staying power. Probably at its peak.

Bright red fruit, some anisseed and wet blue clay. Also toast and coffee. On the palate sleek and fairly elegant with medium body and acidity. The tannins are a bit dry, dusty and rustic.
Perhaps a bit generous on the oak, but still in balance and rather tasty. Will hold up for a few more years of cellaring.

The nose is clean and youthful with medium+ aromas of roasted oak, coffée, red fruit, cherries, strawberries and raspberries. A touch of green notes, pine resin, flowers and lots of pinot spiciness.
Dry on the palate with a medium+ acidity, medium tannins, medium alcohol and medium(-) body. Medium+ intense flavours of raspberries, strawberries, earth, spices, generous red fruit and roasted oak, chocolate beans and pine resins.
A wine of very good quality, drinks very well right now but with potential for a couple of more years on the cellar.
Text book example of German Pinot noir. Clearly dominated by the new, roasted oak. But this is really tasty on the palate and doesn't taste woody at all. Easy to drink a lot of!

The wine is clear with a pale garnet colour.
