(Kruger-Rumpf Pittersberg Riesling Grosses Gewächs) ($42.00) Now the leviathan growl, more profound, a cream-of-slate soup. As rich as walnut oil, and as handsome as a Baron. The high-flying spice of another GG (Dautenpflänzer) seemed bitter to me, but here is perfect harmony of a gravelly masculine type. Do you really like dry wines? +(+)

Light hay colored with green glints. Not much on nose. Palate is firm, very dry and elegant with hints of baked apple, almond pit. With airing, white grapes on finish. Good with grilled shrimp, bouillabaisse, to bring out that sweetness. I like the food friendly acidity, but will improve with another year or two in the cellar.

Pale yellow-green, some tiny bubbles on the pour
Surprisingly high alcohol content
Lemon, straw, unripe crabapple
Heavy petrol notes, nectarine, white stone fruit
Medium finish, nice acidity-will age nicely
Decent QPR for this quality of Riesling
