Despite my 'objective' 91 points, I'm with Locki on this. Certainly not the high theol MSB that most serious wine fans tend to despise. In it's place in Australia, serious winemakers are making this/boiled sweet/sour sweets/candies/lolles/etc version. Certainly a well made wine (hence my score), but very simple. I could understand if the worldwide/mainstream interest in SB was based on easy drinking wines like this as opposed to the cat's piss on a gooseberry bush.

I just can't get into this Sauvignon Blanc craze and this is one of my preferred producers. I'm probably just a wine snob. A nice bouquet of intense grapefruit but it's all downhill from there. Flavours are muddy and indistinct. A hint of apricot on the forefront that is drowned out quickly by the sweetness of the wine. The finish is medium length but an unpleasant blend of jammy and sweet. Insufficient acidity to balance the wine. Poorly balanced, overly sweet and totally lacking in any of the refined qualities I enjoy in a wine. One for the Gen Y alcopop girls for sure.

A subtle sauv blanc, a floral and tropical fruit aromas. Pleasant drink with tropical fruits, some green cap.

Cool climate stars of the Melbourne Wine and Food Festival tasting (Prince Wine Store - Bank Street): Green apples and gooseberries on the with a touch of grass which makes for a pretty well balanced SB. A classic full-textured Adelaide hills palette and a citrus finish.
