Held in cellar for 20 yrs waiting for the perfect Wednesday night after work to wash down a prime filet, sweet corn, and garden fresh rapini. Anyway the wine- medium dull ruby clear til last pour; clean cherry and sweet tobacco aromas and flavors. Lively tart acidity and spicy tannins keep it lively long and structured on the palate. Reinforces the virtues of proper cellaring and appropriate ripeness (13.2% alcohol).
A friend bought this from the winery in the '80s. Plenty of eucalyptus on the nose and palate over the black and blue fruits. The color was shockingly good with basically no bricking. The wine was fully open after only 15 minutes in the decanter.
