Fruit-forward in-your-face kind of wine. A bit heady but not flabby. The Dedicato a Walter has certainly seen it's share of new oak but it's mostly integrated. Wouldn't want to drink this alone over a night but with two other friends it was a nice match for our wild boar stew.

Nose of grape skins and primary grape juice. Light nose on opening. Entry is extremely juicy through the mid mouth. A fairly heavy liquorice and cherry skin component throughout. Left with a bit of burnt wood and tobacco on the finish. Fairly complex for a straight Cabernet Franc. The charred barrel left its mark. Although perhaps slightly flabby now, the finish still with a fair bit of drying tannin. Perhaps 3 or 4 more years is all. I keep my 2023 date.

Rich, dark Cabernet Franc colour. Nose not at all strong on opening but a classic wooden Cab Franc of the grapey variety, by that I mean a fair rich, primary grape juice nose. Mouth is quite intense on entry of extracted grape jam, leather and wood. Good mouth weight of a modern variety. Tannins ever present and coming fairly early and drying. A lot of energy to the mouth. This will please a lot of modern pallets. Good length as well although the tannins fairly heavy grained.

Weekly tasting group RWP #350; Bolgheri vs Bordeaux (@ CvR): Beautiful red and dark berries, leather and toast in the bouquet. On the palate licorice, dark berries, toast, good acidity and beautifully round tannin with a good bite. Delicious wine with a good length.
