Guy's Night: Aged Bordeaux/Bordeaux Blends (Joe & Khem's Place, Mpls): Light-medium salmon color. Drank a glass over an hour. Strawberry, brioche, melon and subtle mineral notes on the nose. The palate shows a complex mix of fruits, with strawberry, orange, cherry, pear, subtle sea shells, dry stone, and a foamy mousse. It's been years since I had the last bottle of '02, in fact almost 9 years. My impression is not that different from back then when I was underwhelmed with what I expected this to be. I was hopeful that some time would make this more compelling, but that was not the case tonight. Very good, yes; on another level, not for me again. The '09 we tasted a couple weeks ago, was magical, so I'm a bit surprised the '02 just has not made the same impression. One more to go. 92+ to 93pts.

5 Guys and a Gal! (Casa Joe & Khem): This was excellent! One of the best Rose Champagnes I have tasted! I am a big fan of the vintage (although I own very few) and a fan of this producer for Rose! I don't know why I don't have more of this producer in my cellar.
Nose showed lots of brioche, yeast, white flower and citrus. Palate was full of raspberry, with notes of cedar, citrus, chalk and apple.
Easy 94 for my palate!

I remember having this several years ago and at the time it was not really in a good mood: bracing and angular, shrill even. Although this still tastes like a young champagne (even at 22 years old) it is much more open and generous. Rose, mint, light frozen strawberry, a little lemon are the main flavor components. Got better and deeper ( more distinct flavors, more intense bouquet) with a little air. Don’t over- chill this: a light chill seems to bring out the best. I have the feeling this will be even better in a few years, but it is already a wow. Every so often I open a Cuvee Elisabeth Salmon to remind myself why this is my favorite rose champagne. Score: 95+. Relative to expectations: +++

Semi-guys night (My house): Creamy and vibrant, slightly spicy finish. Chalky and light, although there is ripe strawberry.
