(Betz Family Winery La Cote Patriarch Syrah Yakima Valley) A brooding wine with complex aromas of crushed flowers, gravel, chocolate, lavender, and olive. The palate is perfumed with char and dark fruit flavors, exquisitely balancing richness and restraint. One for the cellar, this wine should last about as long as you care to hold it. 100% Syrah. Red Willow Vineyard. 14.4% alcohol.

Tonight I needed a Syrah
No signs of bricking, dark to the rim
Nose has nice brambly notes of blackberry and cracked pepper
Palate is still youthful with lots of blackberry and spice. Tannins are still a touch aggressive on the finish.
Probably needs another 5 years to soften up

This was good but not consistent with other notes. Maybe past its prime or maybe just this bottle.

I enjoyed this. Beautiful nose. Fruit forward, with a hint of spice in the background. Tannins have mellowed, but are still present. Finish lasts.
I don't think this is on a downward slope yet, but I see no reason to wait to drink this.
