The Veleta Vijiriega is a pale straw wine with a light body. Distinct florals on the nose. This unique Vijiriega varietal gives a strong showing of minerality mixed with apple and hints of ripened pineapple. The finish cuts in with bitter lemon pith that helps to focus the finish.
Some recent Veleta (Spain) wines with Juan Palomar (Heights Arts Gallery): Love this wine. For about $10, this is an awesome value. The grape was brought by the Phoenicians to Granada, Spain and is not grown in many other places. Pale gold/green in color. The nose is mineral driven, but also slight tropical fruit and floral notes. Dry. It has a medium body and lovely smooth texture. Refreshing to drink. Clean with a nice finish. As a starter or with food, this is a very nice wine.
