  • In super condition, showing only slight hints as to its 20 year age. Full bodied and concentrated, deep/dark and almost black, with flavors of blackberry and plum. Served at a family dinner and it was downed quickly so unfortunately didn’t have an opportunity to keep some for day 2, though I expect it would have been great had some been left over.

  • Cork was in perfect shape, staining only on the end. Double decanted to remove sediment. Tasted on first pour, it had a very ripe, raisiny nose and not much fruit on the palate but after opening up it really hit a nice stride. There's still fruit left but does have a bit of bricking and has leather/tobacco notes pretty present. Wish there was a bit more acidity left but still drinks really well.

  • A super 2002 merlot! Not quite as great as the prior bottle a few months ago but this was nearly as good. There was a little overripe raisiny element over the first half-hour, but that dissipated to reveal silky. pure and delicious fruit. Glad I still have one more bottle.

  • Drinking so well! Color of dark ruby, same as it was 15 or so years ago when I bought several bottles of this Pride merlot. Beautiful blueberry/ blackberry fruit, medium to full body, only a hint of age on the finish. I’m sure the fruit (and tannin) aren’t as prominent as they once were but the wine is better for it. Interestingly, the cork was in utterly perfect condition- only the very tip stained, as if it were just a few years old. Glad I still have a couple bottles left. No hurry, IMO.
