  • As of March 2022, this wine can be purchased at the Verdad/Lindquist tasting room in Arroyo Grande, CA, for $50; it has a Lindquist label pasted over top of the Qupe label. It is in a very good spot--nice hints of olive and earth and excellent resolution, but the fruit core still sings with grilled meats. A perfect wine to take to Jocko's!

  • Wow. This is stunning syrah. On the nose: wild strawberry, olive brine, sweet blackberry, and a lovely savory note. On the palate: fantastic acidity, lovely density; lightweight and compact, wild strawberry, soft salinity, soft tannin on the close. So good.

  • 89: Found this is the back of the cellar and opened it for barbeque night. It did not disappoint, though the complexity is a bit too subtle to stand up directly to the strong flavors of the sauces. It drinks much nicer after the meal, while taking in the aftermath of grilled meats, and as I'm writing this it has both mellowed (in terms of tannins and acidity) and intensified (in terms of flavor profiles and finish). The reddish purple color has started to brown a bit around the edges, but not enough to worry as long as it is consumed soon. The cork was in excellent condition. There is a smattering of fine sediment in this last pour. The bouquet is earth and spice. The palate picks these up but tends more toward dark fruits and leather, maybe just a hint of smoke, with a peppery undertone that follows through to the finish. Very drinkable, but drink soon.

  • Drank for Open That Bottle Night. Saved this for 10 years and was well rewarded for that. Excellent fruit great acid and tannins.

  • This opened a little thinner than I'd expected, but seemed "okay" with some peppery fruit, but not much body. Then everything went to hell, as the acidity and tannins formed a sort of odd "apple skin" flavor by the second hour. Really did not like it. Wondering if this wine is just over the hill, or my bottle was flawed (it wasn't corked or cooked or any of the typical "off bottle" things). But for me, thumbs down...sad!
