2 bottles tasted, similar in quality. These wines should be drunk, there's limited upside from waiting. It's solid with sous bois development aromatically and complex flavors on the palate. Nowhere near purity and delineation of better vintages today. (4349/5043)

ASV gala. Austere, subtle and floral aromatics. It's elegant, silky and persistent, but never delivers the amazement you hope for. Perhaps better than 90 RC, but not 91 LT. (4336/5043)

Romanée-Conti v. La Tâche: Curious nose, endlessly intriguing and tough to get a clear read on. Austere with more secondary drying red berry skin. Herbal but highly expressive. On the palate this is amazing. The balance... is unreal. A fresher nose on the bottle of this enjoyed last month.

The 1991 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti is drinking well now. It has some notes of soy, ginger and smoked meats. There are all sorts of pretty red fruits and a heart of liqueur cherry. There’s just a slightly edgy, tart thing going on towards the finish and it leaves a mineral imprint once swallowed.

Drank at lunch in the caribbean, opened an hour before we ate, decanted for twenty minutes.
Was wonderful and opened up nicely in the glass.
