Delicious and brimming with rich, mature flavors right of the gate. Finely integrated tannins and oak, big red and dark fruits, great texture and long finish. At its apogee, wouldn’t expect as much 2-3 years from now.

I wasn’t sure how well this held up over the years, but any concerns vanished when I opened the bottle. Stout red fruit aromas with hints of musk and oak were immediately apparent. The palate had a nicely balanced acidity and bright red fruits on the front, followed by slightly drying tannins and an earthy black cherry flavor on the finish. It was medium in body, and the acidity softened as it flowed over the palate. Will probably last a while longer, but I think is at or just past peak.

Not as expressive as I remember from the winery, but still textured and interesting. Rich fruit and still present tannin and dominant acid balance the wine, but the heat and alcohol are noticeable. Drink up if you have any left.

I had no expectations for this, my first ever bottling of Virginian provenance, but I came away impressed. Drank it over three days, and it remained solid throughout. Nothing of note on the nose, some oak, fruit, varietal characteristics, etc. The palate is juicy, of medium body, well-balanced. It showed excessive oak the first day but much of it blew off by the second. Overall, this wine features very good texture and finish, along with an intriguing element that holds attention. Alcohol is noticably high.
