Bright cherry is apparent on the nose with a hint of vanilla. Cherry is the predominant flavor on the palate and it is hard to decipher other things before the tannins take over. This wine needs some time or a long decant.

Clear ruby red with garnet on the rim. Medium intensity and consistency. The nose is clean, moderately intense + , with red fruit, plums, blackberry, sweet spice (nutmeg), liquorice, pine tree bark, lavender. The nose is complex (-), developing, and of fine quality. The palate is dry, with warm alcohol at 14.5%. The palate is moderately smooth, with crisp acidity, moderate + + tannins and good minerality. The wine is full bodied, moderately balanced with a slight skew towards hardness. The flavor intensity is medium plus and the length is medium minus. The palate is not quite as impressive as the nose and is only moderate in quality. The wine is ready to drink but may improve with a couple more years of ageing. It is moderately harmonious.

Solid VNdM, perhaps a tad bigger than the norm, but otherwise had decent tipicity. Decant or leave for a few more years.

Decanter Italy Tasting (London): Tooth coating, firm tannin but not aggressive. Juicy dark fruit trying to burst through but will need some time.
