Drank at Rossi pizza bbq. This wine was a pleasant surprise. Nose of violets, black fruit, spice and tar. Similar notes on the palate, with far more fruit showing than expected. Quite spicy too. Tannins mostly resolved, ton of sediment in the bottle (did not decant). Very nice bottle, but no reason to hold onto any of these any longer.

Cornas? If you say so. Initially, upon opening, it came across as a generic Syrah with noticeable taint from new oak, albeit a particularly stinky one. After an hour, the oakiness receded and it took on more typical N Rhone character. Even so, it could have passed for a Crozes or St. Joseph from a decent but not exceptional producer. Tasty enough, but nothing special.

Nice aromas of violet, hints of fruit and meat. Well integrated and smooth but a touch rustic (in a good way). Nice northern Rhone flavours of dark fruit with hints of raw meat and flowers. Finish is perhaps a bit short (very slight hints of stemminess). But overall a very nice wine. This is a wine that seems to have significantly improved with time. 12.5% alcohol.

Hazy notes from a tasting last night. This wine continues to lose its wild, savage side, which is a shame in my books - I liked it better with its old youthful, rustic swagger. Still a nice wine, with lots of blood and leather on the nose and palate. Very perfumed nose - quite striking. Pretty smooth on the palate now, with few tannins.

Decanted and then necessited aeration. Seems in transition. Fruit is fading, only beginning to develop complex nuances. will hold for 2 more years to what develops.
