Very deep dark center, red rim with little signs of age. Sweet, plummy, very merlot, white chocolate, cream. Smooth, very ripe, plums, blueberries, black raspberries, garique, crushed stones, modest tannins and acidity, good finish. Excellent merlot. Drinking well now (thought it might be too young). Definitely a notch above the regular Merlot.

I am not a huge Merlot fan but Freemark Abbey manages to produce a good one. This is not much more complex than other Merlots but it is bolder and more full bodied than most. This is almost certainly influenced by impact of Howell Mountain terroir on the fruit.

Cassis and tobacco aroma; dark cherry finish with an earthy quality. Still tannins to give it some bite, smooth finish. Hard to believe this is an American Merlot.

Wonderful Merlot. Nice bouquet, fruit present but muted. Smooth and nice finish. It can still lay down, but why? It is wonderful now.
