2 hour decant. GSM blend. Light purple to garnet red in color. Nose of crushed black pepper, pretzels, blueberry and carnations. Initial sweetness of berry compote poured over slate with notes of cinnamon and finishing with black pepper, spice and sweet tarts. High acidity and medium tannins. Medium to heavy bodied and a long finish. Silky mouthfeel. Pretty nice overall. A solid 91.

Took 2nd in an otherwise all 2007 CnP tasting. OK, this wine was at the high end of the price points for this tasting, and it was 3 year junior to the CnP, but it came out almost at the top spot. A great showing. This convinces me of 2 things; drink US GSM 3-4 years earlier than French CnP, and French CnP can be remarkably similar to similar profiles from Paso Robles. I think one can find equal or better CnP for a little less, if you are willing to age them a few years longer. This wine was bright with brambly flavors up front, followed by a big round smooth middle and very long finish. A great wine, if you are willing to pay the entry price.
