When I first opened it was a pop and pour. I was a bit disappointed. Excellent structure, but something lacking. Half bottle left. I put some nitrogen on the bottle and drank the remainder the following day. Wow. Tar, leather, a bit of reduction in the nose. Very intriguing. Superb balance. Tannins have softened. Very complex. Outstanding. Bottom line. Give this wine some air when opened!

Decanted for two hours and returned to bottle. Drank over the course of the evening. Past its prime - soy and meaty elements dominated. Not flawed but just meh

One of the rare instances upon opening where a Barolo's nose was more youthful than its palate. After about 45 minutes in glass, this wine's pedigree came shining through with fruit, acidity and even a little tannic structure strutting its stuff after a 30 year slumber. Delicious. (out of magnum).

(Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Vigna Cicala) Group's #6 (my #7) – 136 pts.; 1, 2, 2, 3 – nose of tart cherry, with a suggestion of raspberry liqueur and a high note; a bit tight yet, with a mid-palate of soy sauce, tangy tart fruit and oak notes; medium finish

A bit unclear; some volatile notes; deep forest floor, high acid, not 100% right, but still an interesting drink.

Gorgeous nose, sweet and classic Barolo. The attack was smooth and elegant, nicely herbaceous . The nit here is that the wine was a bit over ripe.
