Agree with akelsey below. Absolutely gorgeous. I want more. This bottle was extra special as I bought it at the chateau in 2012. The tasting room was their family dining room!

A beauty. Wonderfully expressive flowery nose and on the palate there are complex citrus notes of which grapefruit is the dominant characteristic. This Gewurz is slightly on the dry side of medium and is extraordinarily elegant and in no way cloying. It is vivacious and pure with terrific style and a good finish. If I have a criticism, and this really is nit-picking, I found it just a touch hollow on the finish. The build up was so impressive that I was expecting a follow through like Tiger Woods smashing a golf ball 300 yards right up the middle of the fairway, but it didn't quite have that kind of wallop. Maybe it's still a little young and this will come with a bit more cellaring. That said, this is a wonderfully elegant Gewürztraminer that's worth every penny. For drinking on its own or with cheese, but it would be a waste to have with spicy, highly flavoured foods. Estimated maturity: Now-2020

Domaine Weinbach Visit with Madame Colette Faller (Kaysersberg, France): Subtle nose, not overwhelmingly varietal plus a touch of honey. Sweeter than the '08 Altenbourg yet more complex as well. Manages to retain tremendous elegance due to strong acidity. Wonderful wine and the best of the 3 regular Gewurztraminers we tried here today.

A bit disappointing. sweet without the backbone. Day two offered addtiional elegence without verve. A bit too much sweetness.
