Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Very light color, crimson core with pale rim, watery, almost looks like an older CdP; an extremely faint nose at first, cranberry, tart strawberry, rustic, cherry; palate is richer with similar fruit to the nose, tastes aged, a hint of candy cane, cherry, good acid; coaxed some personality out with air but the wine seemed a little tired at that point, really reminded us of '01 Monprivato due to its watery body and light red fruit flavors; still waiting on a bottle like the one Alan Meadows gets.
Baby killing. Served after one hour decant, which did not do the wine justice, but allowed the wine to open up a bit, showing off tremendous cherry notes with sous bois and underlying minerality. Fine tannins with a dry finish.
