Pours a black cherry color. Nose of red fruits, green herbs, spice and some heat.
Flavored of red fruits, earth, herbs and chalk. Medium body with med+ acidity. The dirt/earth and herbaceous notes overwhelms the fruit. Finish is medium and leaves a bit of a dirty taste in the mouth. Not my style.

Nose: Pretty and elegant nose with tones of red cherries, herbs, red fruits, violets, and some wild spices.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and nice supporting tannins. Well balanced and rounded with elegant tones of red cherries, herbs, violets, and spice tones.
Overall: This certainly holds to its elegance moniker. It's a pretty chinon with very good balance and nice depth. There is a nice understated quality as well on both the nose and palate.

Not likely to be mistaken for Clos Rougeard, this is nonetheless a very reasonable rendition of Loire Valley Cab Franc. Tarry with briery red fruit and a bit of leather, this had some chalky tannins and enough acidity along with a sense of ripeness from the vintage and a certain polish that speaks of some NFO in its elevage. Quite enjoyable with lamb and not in need of further aging.
