Great comparison with the Wayfarer. Really aging well. Common theme with the Fort Ross Seaview wines is the great structure these wines show. Very bright color and deep floral and dark red fruit aromas. Balanced palate with long staining finish. Excellent wine.

Burgundy color with a bouquet and flavor of raspberries, dry brown sugar, and allspice. Soft and round with a nice texture and very good balance. I have been a bit critical of Flowers for dumbing down their wines, but this wine succeeded without the more expansive flavors of some other California Pinot Noirs. It was far better than the great majority of Burgundy reds. Some readers of my notes have suggested that I just like bigger Pinot Noirs, but this Flowers is not as "big" as recent bottles of Aubert or Martinelli that I have tasted, and much bigger than the Laceollotti, an Oregon Pinot Noir, that I tasted the same week. No, it is a matter of not much in the way of bouquet or flavor compared with wines that actually have some, whether more or less restrained.
Burgundy color with a bouquet and flavor of raspberries with underlying Burgundy spiciness. Warm and full, but less expansive than an Aubert, and less angular than a Domaine Serene. Very pleasant with good balance and a fairly long finish. Flowers' wines have become more dumbed down over time, and this is too bad. Emulating bad Burgundy will make your wines taste like bad Burgundy.

Beautiful wine. Deep, rich, and textured in the mouth. Wonderful dark fruit, cherry, and black pepper notes. Drinking exceptionally well.
