BYOB Bordeaux/Burgundy flights (Local wine club): Same bottle but now cracked open. Tasted semi blind against 5 other Cabernet blends. Closed but opens up after a short while in the glass. Dense red fruit dominated by dark raspberries with notes of violets and of tobacco. On the palate good fruit core, dense and concentrated but with balancing acidity and soft tannin. Had this down as a new world wine of high quality leaned towards California but as it turned out this was a brilliant example of Sena. Took the group by surprise when revealed as it was voted, equal to 2003 Pontet Canet, best in the flight. 93-94p
From a Coravin sample. Dusty to begin with but with fine blackcurrant fruit and refreshing grassy notes. A little muted at first but evolves nicely. Fresh acidity, dark sweet fruit, almost resolved tannin. Overall a dry impression but fine balance and elegant. Not at all plush. Some tobacco notes by the end. Long balanced finish. No rush to drink, seemed very vital. 91-92

Nearly brick colored, but ruby underlying; medium-full bodied. Blackberries, earth, leather notes. Tannins fully integrated; smooth and savory. Not a terribly long finish--doesn't hold a candle to the 2001, or to the '95 Canepa Magnificum we tasted alongside. But NOT over the hill, as I feared...

Tät kärna, ljusare vid kanten
Cederträ, grönt, paprika, körsbär, körsbärskärnor, cabbigt, träigt
Torrt, strävt, bra längd och härlig intensitet. En oerhört härlig överraskning.
Första trevliga vinet från Chile.

Crazy beautiful on 2nd and 3rd day. No rough edges, nice balance, hints of rose petals and a nice long length
