In contrast to my February note on this wine, this bottle was about picture perfect - not tired at all, rather, right in its prime. Satisfying moulin, round with the right degree of tannic-acid structure, good weight, a fine bottle of fine wine. Two mags left to learn from over the next few years.

Initial impression is that it's time to drink up - still good wine, but lacks freshness and pizzaz, that spark you get in a Chermette cru bottling on its upswing. Aim to drink the last bottle this year and get into my mags next year.

Final bottle from 16 originally purchased. Last consumed about a year ago. Surpassed the high point, IMHO, but still quite good. Pretty red fruits, a bit more stewed and mature when compared to the crunchy red fruits originally presented in this bottle years ago. Lovely soil signature, with a solid mid-palate, leading into a fairly long and red+black fruited finish. Drink now IMHO.

Second bottle, kept under condition 2 since about 2017 (see my profile). Mature, with almost fully resolved tannins and nice mature notes. Still some fruit (cherry). a herbal note (rosemary?) in the finish. Better at day three than at day one. Rather nice. 89.

Very good, but needs generous airing time to show properly - shows a bit thin and off-balance early. Serve cool. A good quality red from this venerable appelation, with volume and balance. Lacks the scrumptious factor I discovered a couple of weeks ago in my Thivin Cote de Brouilly from the same vintage. I'll open a 2011 Fleurie Garants next and report further.
