  • Level 3.9cm below cork. Almost medium yellow, but with some green tints. The nose initially aims toward exotic fruit, with quince featuring, but changes course to a waxed-covered apple. In line with the vintage, this is a lighter spätlese with quite a nervous front, but it's seamless, with some nice yellowish fruit along its relatively impressive length and bringing a little cream, menthol and mint to what is a pretty protracted finish. Certainly, a much better showing than my last note, almost two years ago. Very good and should see 25 years.

  • Over two days. Slight ullage, with level 3cm below cork. Full yellow colour. With only faint yellow fruit, the nose is modest. But on the following day, from a half, the nose detects that the yellow fruit has since been magnified and is now joined by white and greenish fruit, plus a hint at a used ashtray somewhere in the distance. The palate is better, with decently ripe nectarine and peach. On the 2nd day, it is better still - the fruit is properly ripe not merely decently so. And it has a silkier texture, added length and an acidity which doesn't announce the vintage. Good. Decanting would help it along.

  • Brilliant straw in color. Nose of MacIntosh Apples and hints of ripe peaches. Tastes of Granny Smith Apples, ripe peaches, and hint of Cherries. Lovely balance, solid acidity, and nice purity.

  • A neighbor brought a bottle of this for a July 4 gathering. It didn't match any of the food really well but was very good. Tons of flavor and a great minerally nose.
