  • Still a beautiful wine with a bouquet and flavor that has the profile of a young Champagne with notes of dried apple, citrus, and steel. Tiny fleeting bubbles with nice acidity and good balance. Quite surprising for such an old vintage.

  • Light golden color with tiny bubbles. Bouquet and flavor of lemon, a hint of yeast, and some dilute balsamic vinegar. I would have expected more of the latter, given the age of the wine. It had wonderful definition, depth, and balance, with a long finish. Drunk on my anniversary to end a lovely day.

  • 100% Chardonnay sourced from Grand Cru vineyards in Mesnil and Avize. Golden yellow in colour with fine bubbles. Despite having 13 years of bottle age this is still fresh with intense creamy, lemon flavours and terrific length. Strangely it is also quite sweet, only just on the dry side of medium, so makes for a better aperitif rather than pairing with food. Although at its peak there are no signs of decline so should remain good for a while yet. To indicate the substance of this wine I discovered half a glass left in the bottle six hours after opening and it still hadn't faded. A really top notch effort. Estimated maturity: To 2015.

  • an amazingly well-balanced nutty, herbal champagne with thorough but subtle bubbles. Case entirely gone. Perfect to drink up now.

  • Seems like it's the right time to drink this stuff -- nuts, light herbs, and earth on the nose with solid bubbles, although not enough bubbles perhaps and a chewy, substantial mouth-feel...nice finish, with lingering mushrooms.
