4th Saturday Brown Bagger (M&R's): Double blind. Dark color. Notes of dark fruit, herbs and spice with perfumed floral overtones. Good tannin and fruit balance, with flavors of brown sugar, dark fruit and perhaps some cassis with a long balanced finish. Guessed Napa cabernet.

Let decant about an hour before drinking. An odd powdery grassy nose made me think the bottle had turned. But taste was understated elegance. Light cherry, moss and earthiness with a touch of chestnut. Finishes extremely tame with nearly any tannins and a tart aftertaste.

Dark cherry, tobacco and a rounded spiciness with some oak. Nice balance overall. The acidity on the finish of the last bottle has mellowed. Still can hold for a few more years.
