  • Very youthful dark ruby/magenta. Restrained aromas of dark red plums, sour cherries, spice and green tones. Very concentrated and dense palate reveals savory dark fruits, dark soy, green olive tapenade, very good acidity, noticeable tannins and a long mineral laden and structured finish. If you are looking for a fruity and floral Pinot, you have definitely come to the wrong place.

  • Darker color than the '15 Eyrie tasted alongside. Cherry, earth and ripe red berry fruit with Asian spice overtones. Medium-bodied. Abundant red berry fruit, mineral, spice and earth flavors with an impressively silky texture. Beautiful. 93-94 pts.

  • First of a case bought in 2017 directly from a trusted merchant that had held the wine in professional storage in bond since release. PNP. Cork showed some very slight seepage on the top and was close to fully soaked on all sides at open. Slight sign of age in color but fine for its age. This showed a bit thin throughout the evening. It was certainly drinkable but not showing the way I would have expected or remembered from my last taste (from a different case). I will try another bottle soon. NR

  • Dark ruby in color. Gorgeous aromas of violets, potpourri spice, dark plums and a hint of green olive. Very concentrated on the palate with very savory and perfumed dark fruits, good acidity, salty minerals and good intensity in the finish.

  • Great balanced Volnay. More fruit and secondary notes than some other bottles I’ve had. Very smooth with good length to the finish. Not the most powerful or complex, but a great, reliable red burg to have with food.
