  • PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs and Day 2
    -semi-opaque med dark red
-moderately expressive slightly confected ripe black cherry, touch of black pepper
-med/med+ acidity with med weight but sappy earthy mid-palate ripe black cherry picking up some leafy/earthy elements, med/med+ chalky tannins give substantial grip, moderately long finish has some noticeable but not intrusive oak; still going strong on Day 2 with little change
-stylistically more Arnot-Roberts than an Italian sangiovese: aromatic on a relatively lighter frame with wispy red fruits earth and tannic structure; lovely and seems to be in early maturity

  • Notes from memory. I enjoyed this wine. Decanted first, and then consumed throughout the evening. Wine had a nice dark color indicating that it can handle more bottle age. Nose needs time to open up. Dark cherry elements dominated the nose and palate. Less of the sour cherry and leather component that I associate with Tuscan Sangiovese, but this is by no means a complaint. Undercurrent of plum, pepper, and spice (?) on the mid-palate through the finish. Surprisingly rich, given AR’s adroit subtle touch with their portfolio of wines. Enjoyed and wish I had a few more bottles to follow. Liked the label too.

  • Earth and black raspberry on the nose, with some pepper and cherry, a little leather, and some dirt at the end. Rich and juicy on the palate, with raspberry and cherry, some pepper and leather on the mid-palate, and a nice earthy finish.

  • solid, but not mind blowing. Long finish and solid structure. Can't figure out if needs bottle aging or not. Decanted for 2 hours and still tight or one dimensional. Time will tell.

  • Like it? Such a pretty ruby red you just can't look away. Personality? Layers and layers. She just draws you in. And what is that scent? Italian? Oh, American. Wow! Upon opening the perfume of this wine is alluring in its complexity. On the palate wave after wave of plum, strawberry, almond, cherry and some mocha with excellent acidity and a dry mildly tannic finish that lingers. Enchanting. Like? Noooo...LOVE. And she will be much better as she ages.
