  Final bottle from a lot of three, purchased from the German importer in 2016 as part of a larger Conterno Barbera lot (Francia, Cerretta). Decanted for two hours, gritty sediment. Deep and dark colour, youthful appearance. Ready to go right from the start. It's big (15% ABV) and concentrated, with huge cherry fruit and spice, but there is floral lift (violets) and aromatic herbs on the nose too; lovely detail and precision on the palate, silky texture, bright acidity and gravelly freshness balance the weight effortlessly, supported by delicately firm tannins with a percaline texture; light and layered finish, peaches and roses, very good length, little or no back-end heat. Really singing tonight, will go on.

  Bekmørk, nesten ugjennomtrengelig. Evas første kommentar er at det lukter tørt gress, tørket timotei! Og hun har jo rett! Jeg tenkte først mørke bær med bjørnebær og mørke kirsebær, samt sort lakris - men jommen er det et tørket preg her også, og vi kan kanskje legge til mørke plommer. Smaken er tung, mørk og fløyelsmyk på en gang, det er en ‘blockbuster’ av en barbera. Forrige flaske var vaniljetung, det er ikke denne. Merkelig! Det er ikke så mye fruktsødme heller, men den er veldig smaksrik. Frukten er kanskje gått over til å være mer tørket enn frisk. Men smaken er lang, tung og godt sammensatt - og dette er bare en herlig barbera! 91-92 p.

  Mørk, tett farge med svakt brunlig kant. Intens, varm og parfymert med et heftig vaniljepreg, et herlig søtlig streif av krydder, høstløv og et hint av sort lakris. Fyldig, bløt og fløyelsmyk munnfølelse. Veldig smaksrik med mørke modne bær, god punch. Pent utviklet og mørk profil, avslepen tanninstruktur, varm og rik avslutning. Strålende barbera som er nydelig å drikke nå. Et lite trekk for vailjesødmen, tikker allikevel inn på 92 poeng.

  A private dinner with friends: Decanted for four hours. Youthful appearance. Spices and ripe cherries, rich and full-bodied (15% ABV) but not port-like or overripe, silky-smooth but fresh, with mild tannins, attractive hint of tar and lift from some roses and peaches, good but not great length, Remarkably balanced for such a big wine, completely ready. Drink now - 2026.
