Dense, chewy and full of fruit (along with a complementary acid backbone). Lots of savory, meaty and smokey components as well. Drinks fine now with food (needs some fat to cut the body), has a long ways to go yet. Delicious!
Tasted over 2 days with and without food. This wine continues to confound me. On the one hand, the honest syrah character is on full display in the nose and palate. On the other hand, the tannins are still fairly harsh at this point (though have softened some since my last bottle some months ago). Then, when paired with Lamb Osso Buco, it took on an entirely different character with sweet black licorice notes and heavier body. Overall, this leaves me confused and I'm unable to come to grips with a description. Get ready for one helluva roller coaster ride with this one...
