Drank with JF at SFIAC pork & pasta dinner. Great pairing. Decanted fine sludge like sediments. Tertiary aromas, and flavors at this stage. Chocolatey truffle shriooms, etc. Delicious. Can a bit of taste the blue clay! 2 more to go. Can’t imagine this getting better than it already is now. Will drink the last bottles this year.

First of a six pack bought at auction. Decanted to remove small amount of very fine sediment. Cork was in remarkably good shape! Rich, creamy mouthfeel . Slight bricking and faint rust color. Tertiary flavors and aromas . Sweet mature fruit ; raspberry ,mushroom, blueberries, some plum and a good chunk of milk chocolate flavor. Cigar box, leather truffle and a slightly warmth on the alcohol but overall just a purely beautiful merlot bouquet. Balanced and wonderful delicious. Enjoyed with homemade lamb stew (cold SF night!). 97pts and still can go anoth3-5 years IMO. Drank over 4-5 hrs. Tremendously rewarding wine!

Guys night: Decanted per "rather be drinking wine". Earth, leather, cherry, chocolate, bright fruit, pretty berries, this would be a ringer in a right bank tasting. The acid keeps it lively. A rare wine where the complexity and the fruit are both showing well.

Guys Night - Something Special! (Jason's House): OK....so I was nervous and looking forward to tasting this bottle....nervous because any time you're dealing with an older wine like this, you can't help but be a little pensive...looking forward to it because I had never tasted one and it was a bucket list wine for me! Let me break the suspense....it did not disappoint!
Popped open the bottle and decanted about 30 mins prior to guests arriving for dinner...kept it decanted after they arrived until served (total of about 3 hours). Nose showed classic aged Merlot traits of dark cherry, earth and chocolate notes with hints of slightly perfumed violets. The palate was stunning, with a perfect balance of fruit and tertiary notes that resonated quite well with my palate! Earth cherry and chocolate with hints of graphite, cigar box and violets all in perfect harmony. It reminded me of one of those movies where the stars were all in perfect allignment! 97+ (and I think I am being conservative!) Paired well with Rack of Lamb!
