Thought this bottle was showing better, 45 minute decant surely played a role. Gossamer-like and lacy right from the start with the mid-palate fleshing out towards the latter part of the bottle. Tannins are perfectly resolved and the wine is very balanced between its fruit and acidity. Explosive nose of violets and mushrooms. Delicious!!
Definitely decant...really benefited from air. First glass of the bottle was still very closed and tight...decanted the rest and 30 minutes later the wine blossomed into a pretty but still very structured Volnay. Serious stuff.
This is really pretty tonight and in a really good place. Well balanced with penetrating red fruit, earth, sous bois, perhaps some floral notes, firm minerality at its core and a long satisfying finish. While this has a softer mouthfeel, there's underlying sauvage characteristics that make this hard to call feminine. All in all, an excellent Volnay that's drinking beautifully with a couple of hours of double decanting.

(Pousse d'Or Volnay Caillerets) Medium colour with some purple reflections. High-toned aromatics are the main theme. Well-mamanaged tannins and a dark, slightly reductive element. The fruit in the mid-palate is lovely before fading into a medium length.
