My god, a couple more years in bottle has done wonders for this wine. On opening, a bit thin and acidic, but after about 30-45 minutes in the decanter this wine is absolutely rocking with nice underbrush, a dry garrigue-like note, and deep strawberry/red cherry. The finish is satisfying. Everything is in balance but this may well get better over the next 12-36 months. Glad I have another bottle to work with and see about later.

Cool red berries on the nose, followed by flavors of kirsch, strawberries, and a bit of herb/earth. Really loved the lithe texture of this wine - it's lightweight, smooth, silky, and glides effortlessly over the palate to disappear with an extremely clean finish. I actually think this might get a bit lost with food, but was lovely on its own. Great value, and will probably grab more if I see it. No brett issues in this bottle.

Sunday Afternoon Languedoc (SF Wine Trading Company): Medium ruby core, lighter edge. Significant funk dominates the aromatics. Lighter weight but still harmonious feel. Driven by leathery, earthy palate and finish. Despite it being less than pristine, this is a good, rustic country French wine now, but I would not take a chance holding onto it because of the high dose of brett.

Smokin' value at $13.99. From 100 year old vines. Complex and deep for a corbieres, with a brooding earthy feeling and dark red apple atop the palate, while still remaining light in weight. A bit rustic but in a good way. I imagine this would age well for the next 5-7 years at least. 70% carignan, 20% grenache noir, 10% mourvedre.
