Commanderie des Costes du Rhone - Fall 2022 Intronization (Aquavit): Coming on the heels of allemand which is all traditional and sleek this was a bit jarring. Oak clearly prevalent here. It takes a bit to get to the fruit. More time to integrate. Interesting because the last time I had this I had thought it was further in its evolution.

I think the only wine in the group that has new oak on it and the oak was mostly integrated although you could tell it had added a bit more heft to the body of the wine. It's almost a cleaner style. Still dark fruit. A bit less of the game. Drinking nicely.

Fully ready to go, this thrill-a-sip wine has it all. With 1 hour of decanting, the vibrant, fresh, pure, smoky, red fruits come alive on the nose and palate. There is fabulous energy, mouth-filling layers of perfectly ripe, red fruits, and a seamless finish that holds on for over 60 seconds.

10 hour decant. Explosive red fruit, yet all the unique cote rotie qualities stood out. Drank against '99 La Mouline and this bottle was much bigger, more expressive and the table favorite.

Impossible to find, and equally impossible not to be thrilled with this stellar wine. Incredibly concentrated, intense, full-bodied, firm, regal, and explosive, the wine is packed with layers of crushed rocks, peppery red fruits, iron, smoke, leafy herbs, and dried flowers. The palate-staining layers of perfectly ripe, fruits hit every nook and cranny of your taste receptors. Decanted 90 minutes, this is still remarkably young and vibrant. The finish sticks with you for 60 seconds, or longer.
