A modest premier cru in the overally scheme of things but I thought this wine was pretty good, and particularly so for its age. Colour shows strength; slightly murk crimson red with a wash of brown, but good density to the edges. Nose shows very good lift right out of the bottle with heavy sweet and sour fruits and a hint of minerality. Upon reflection, the aroma lift was super powerful. Maybe some cooked fruit, but well within my tolerance levels. Fruit mostly similar to the nose, although perhaps a little tighter with some acid and minerals at play. Does dry out a little at the finish. Some varnishy oak but not enough to distract. A good tasting educational.

Merdy and old school - pinot comes through but in rustic style - very enjoyable, balanced, and drinking great. Oak gone.
