Interesting wine. Light bodied but good color. On the nose: some menthol, wet wood, a little smoke, not much fruit and not oaky. On the palate: light to medium mouthfeel, upfront tannins which fade quickly, lots of smokey bacon and spice. Finish is medium length and spicy. If I had this blind I would guess syrah, not cab.
Tasted at McCarthy & Schiering. This has an alluring nose of black-licorice candy with some cassis. On the palate this is medium weight, a nicely balanced quaffer, with some toast showing. A pleasant albeit simple Napa Cabernet.
