Imbibed in Provence. A spectacular wine. Vibrant, clear yellow robe. Tints of green. Youthful, yet with bags of character, texture and a punch. Balanced with butteriness, floral scents, fruits on nose and palate. Highly structured, this wine is wonderful yet and we know its has oodles of time to mature. A precocious little wine! Super!
2011 Burgundy Anniversary Tasting (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Light yellow. Gorgeous pear and citrus with a bit of cinnamon as well. Not a huge wine but excellent concentration and silkiness. Wonderful fruit and fine acidity. A very fine bottle that lives up to the reputation of the domain. Enjoy now or hold for a few years for even more complexity.
Visit to Domaine des Comte Lafon with Stephane Thibodaux; 3/20/2015-3/21/2015: Meursault-typical fresh stone fruit on the nose. Not as mealy as the 2012, more citrus, apple and pear. On palate, good power, but seems more acid than the 2012 (actually the pH was the same, it’s just that the fruit is leaner here). Beautiful sparkling acidity. Well balanced, elegant and mineral. Rich, fresh with more matière than the Charmes. A very serious, good wine. I preferred the 2011 to the 2012, due to its acid cut and better precision.
