Wow, this was nothing like the prior bottles we had of this. At initial opening, if we didn't know what it was, we'd think it was a very old Bordeaux or Burgundy. Nose of leather, musty, old dusty book. Palate was leather and a little wet dirt. There was a good amount of bricking on the color. After a few minutes in the glass, and as the bottle warmed from cellar temperature, it started to take on that "Chateau Musar" nose and palate profile. Sweet red fruit and the striking brett nose. Really interesting and enjoyable wine.

Very dry, dusty and old world. Nose was a bit more open than palate. After first taste/glass, aerated, decanted and filtered. Nose of tar, black cherry, a bit of raisin, like an amorne. Palate still less open, but similar flavors.

A little earthy on the nose but not musty, smooth and a very nice surprie. This is a bright Sangiovese which sipped well before, during (especially during!) and after the meal. Of course it paired well with garlic alfredo linguini. $25 at Total Wine makes this a keeper. Now if only I could find their Reserva Il Margone!

Rasiny dark fruit on the nose, showing lots of earth character on the nose. They purposefully hold this back in bottle by about a year or so. Dark and roasty on the nose. More juicy on the palate. Tastes a bit like Ponzano (the region, if I got that right).
