88 Our last of 6 bottles that we have been drinking over 5 years. This is a nice Tuscan wine from the town of Scansano. This Sangiovese based wine is full body with a ripe brambly black and blue fruit. Has an old world component to the flavor with tastes of pencil lead, leather and black ink well. This '09 still has firm tannins. Overall, a good Tuscan wine that went excellent with spaghetti and Anita's red sauce. This wine needs food.

This bottle was good, just seemed a little off compared to the previous bottle, so we won't get into a lot of details or give it a rating. It was still good with the grilled pork chops and everyone enjoyed it.

Poignant plum and cherry, some old-fashioned country soda aromas. Certainly some oak presence as well. In some ways it feels very Sangiovese with good acidity and cherry core. On the other hand, it kind of feels like another Italian varietal- maybe Sangrantino or Negroamaro. Bright and dry, though it did take a while to open up.

Second time I rate it. Deep ruby Color. This time i decanted for a couple of minutes after taking it out of the wine fridge at 13c. Nose opens with immediate blackberries and other black fruits together with smoke, pepper and cream - pronounced. Med acidity, Med+ body, Med tannins, Med alcohol, pronounced flavor intensity and Med+ finish. Great structure, fine tannins, still tastes young and vibrant but very enjoyable. This went perfectly with our ottolenghi dish with orzo. It will be difficult to stay off the remaining 3 bottles. Definitely great value for money.
