Drank at home. The nose shows medium intensity but the wine needs time to open up. A few petrol/rubbery notes, preserved lemon, lemon, a few nutty and spicy notes. In the mouth the wine shows high acidity, petrol notes again, lime, spicy, tropical fruits, medium body. Its very fresh and youthful with a hint of alcohol. Overall, a truly outstanding wine, far from being at its peak. The last glass shows white chocolate and considerably "heavier" nose

Elegant and deep, yet understated nose of apricot, peach, lemon, and chalk. High acidity, minerals, crushed rocks, and lemon on the palate. Long finish. Lovely!

Served with shrimp & grits. acidity popping through. decent fruit. med finish. no matchsticks like last time. i didn't spend a lot of time analyzing this, but very pleasant.

Tasty, but this bottle was showing reduction or match stick on the nose. I don't recall this on prior bottles. I chilled it from cellar temp and it seemed to improve.

Aiolos Tasting (Intercontinental Hotel): Clear pale lemon. Clean, mid+ intensity in the nose, filled with peaches and lime, a bit of petrol notes, youthful. Dry, medium body, intensity, alcohol and medium+ acidity, citrus and lime juice, lemon, pineapple, well structured, med+ finish. Very good quality, premium price, drinking now can age. (certain in the future the rating will be higher)

(Weingut Willi Bründlmayer Riesling Lyra) Light yellow color; tart peach, light white pepper, ripe green fruit nose; tasty, rich but very balanced, tart peach, light white pepper, ripe green fruit, mineral palate; needs 1-2 years; medium-plus finish 93+ points
(Willi Bründlmayer Riesling Zöbinger Heiligenstein "Lyra") ($71.00) Named for the Y-shaped trellising system that increases leaf canopy, thus shading the grapes and giving more photosynthesis. It also “looks like the vine is throwing its arms up toward the sun,” says Willi (poetically!), who adds, “And it shows that you don’t need old vines to give great Riesling.” I quite lost it here. The wine is rapturous. It’s a quintessence of all the fruits and exotica of Riesling; utter pagan orgy of Riesling. The Alte Reben is religious, but this one is orgastic. +++
