Worried that I do this injustice by only giving this wine an 89. A true to form, old world Chianti Classico. Beautiful garnet color that you can just see your fingers through. Cherry and red currants with a cornucopia of herb/earth notes, sage, thyme, marjoram, granite, and soil. A bit of a juicy pomegranate mid/finish. Fine grained tannins and medium acidity. This just shined with home made pasta. Not at all a 'cocktail' wine, but with a good home-cooked meal it is just what the doctor ordered! Continued to improve with a 2 hour decant. Will certainly pick up more (great at $20/btl). Made with organic grapes; 90% Sangiovese & 10% Canaiolo; imported by Coltibuono; Natural cork; 13.5% abv.
Relatively complex wine for the price. Nice balance of dark fruits, acidity, and tannins on the finish. Not a particularly memorable nose or long finish, but a pleasant wine that will pair well with protein heavy dishes.
Light translucent red. Nose is fragrant with bright cherry, redcurrant, and spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. Palate is sharp with bright acidity, red cherry and spices, light on its feet wihtout much savor or complexity. Finishes rather abrupt without much tannic bite on the close. An ok everyday food friendly wine, but not worried i only bought one. much better quality is available in chianti classico at the same or just a bit higher cost. 55+10+14+5
