La Paulee Dinner (Summer Pavillion @ the Ritz): Dark aura of soy and earth with more earth-buried cherries with wild nuances of leather. Intense but still elegant dark cherries peppered with crayola.A nicely extracted effort and just needs more time to come together.

La Paulée dinner (Summer Pavilion, Ritz Carlton, Singapore): A very nice wine, full of power, but maybe just lacking a little of the elegance that I normally associate with Potel's Beze. Very rich and layered nose - lots of leather and a touch of loam, with higher-toned sandlewood scents drifting along somewere in there, and dark cherry fruit. Tons and tons of force on the palate, with a rush of leather, rich, ripe dark cherries, game and a dried plummy tone undergirded by firm tannins. This really was decently fresh for a 2003 as well, so there was a sense of poise and cleaness in spite of the weight of the wine. The finish was very long, with tight tannins, a dash of pepper and a touch of ginseng. Very young still, this will get better with time.
